Mobile Phone Coverage
The newly constructed Phone Masts on Newlands Hill, and Hutton Roof, went live in May 2016.

The villages of Hesket Newmarket and Caldbeck now enjoy a full mobile phone service, which it has to be said, is life changing for many.

However, the houses, and the users of the Hall, in the hamlet of MILLHOUSE are not so fortunate, as currently the signal strength is very intermittant and patchy.

Despite the governments subsidized funding for the two local recently constructed masts, the houses of MILLHOUSE, and the Hall, (the main hub and only official meeting venue of the parish of Castle Sowerby) still remains a so called "Not Spot",  in mobile phone jargon.  This has got to be regarded as a very serious blunder with the planning, positioning and sizing of the masts.
Surely the Newlands mast could have been much taller.
Without the much awaited phone signal in MILLHOUSE, the "Pay Phone" will be doomed to remain in position for a lengthy period, and the fitting of "Smart Meters" to the electrical supplies of all the dwellings, including the Hall, will have to be cancelled indefinitely.

Most importantly, the residents of MILLHOUSE will again be severely deprived, with the lack of being up to date with a now very recognized every day technology, which most other areas now benefit from.

We hope this problem is not permanent and can be rectified soon, and in its infancy period.
